The development of IT and technologies as such offers new possibilities of collection and processing of the information. The 3D scanners are one of the developing technologies that have started being applied in a wide scope of different industry and research fields. It is a device serving to digitalize a particular object and to transfer the obtained information into a form suitable for further processing. The article focuses on the proposal of the scanning methodology and measurement evaluation using the whole-body 3D scanners. It describes the most frequent problems and their solutions within measuring and it presents chosen applications of the 3D whole-body scanners in practice
