Mast Cells Suppress IL-33 Induced Innate-Type Allergic Airway Inflammation By Promoting Regulatory T Cell ExpansionDOI: 10.1016/j.jaci.2016.12.542 Abstract: IL-33 is a member of the IL-1 cytokine family and is considered to be crucial for the induction of type 2 immune responses. Since mast cells are known to secrete inflammatory mediators in response to IL-33 in vitro even in the absence of immunoglobulin E, mast cells are considered to be a major effector cells in allergic inflammation. However, the roles of mast cells in IL-33-induced innate-type allergic airway inflammation in vivo remain unclear. The aim of this study is to clarify the roles of mast cells in IL-33-induced innate-type allergic airway inflammation.
