Relationship between Total IgE and Absolute Eosinophil Counts in Atopic versus Non-atopic patients with Strongyloidiasis

The IgE-mediated immune response against Strongyloides infection has been hypothesized to down-regulate skin reactivity and limit interactions between allergens and IgE on mast cells. Among patients with strongyloidiasis, we describe the relationship between total IgE and absolute eosinophil counts (AEC) in patients with atopy (at least one positive environmental skin prick test) versus patients with negative skin prick test (SPT).
