Abstract:

It has been authenticated that asymmetric surface textures can enhance load-carrying capacity of mechanical parts in ideal status. However, influence on mechanical load-carrying capacity of coupling effects of cavitation and inertia under complicated states of oil flow is a subject remaining to be researched. It makes against finding a new method of improve mechanical load-carrying capacity. This paper adopts Navier-Stokes equation and Schnerr-Sauer method to study load-carrying capacity of slider with asymmetric surface textures and properties of oil flow under coupling effects of cavitation and inertia. The results show that effects on loading-carrying capacity of slider with different asymmetric surface textures are different. Optimal asymmetric surface texture can enhance inertia of dimples so that load-carrying capacity improves. When the speed of slider is greater than 10m/s, coupling effects of cavitation and inertia are more significant. In addition, the effects on load-carrying capacity of cavitation and inertia are opposite. The study not only accords with engineering, but also reveals the effects on load-carrying capacity with different asymmetric surface textures under coupling effects of cavitation and inertia
