creatingadigitalpreservationnetworkwithsharedstewardshipandcost:theexperienceofpartnershipsinthenationaldigitalinformationinfrastructureandpreservationprogramKeywords: ndiipp,preservationnetwork,intellectualproperty,basicresearch Abstract: ？thenationaldigitalinformationinfrastructureandpreservationprogram(ndiipp)wasinitiatedindecember2000whentheu.s.congressauthorizedthelibraryofcongresstoworkwithabroadrangeofinstitutionstodevelopanationalstrategyforthepreservationofimportantat-riskborndigitalcontent.guidedbyastrategyofbroadcollaborationsanditerativelearning,thelibraryofcongressbegancatalyzinganationalnetworkofpartnersdedicatedtocollectingandpreservingimportantborn-digitalinformation.overthelastsixyears,thelibraryanditspartnershavebeenengagedinlearningthroughaction.ourinvestmentsinpreservationpartnerships,publicpolicydeliberationsrelatedtointellectualpropertychallenges,basictechnicalresearch,andnetworkarchitecturemodelshaveincreasedourunderstandingofthesustainingrolesandfunctionsforanationalnetworkofdiversestakeholders.theemergingnetworkofnetworksiscomplexandinclusiveofavarietyofstakeholders:contentproducers,contentstewardsandserviceprovidersfromthepublicandprivatesectors.
