NotesonthePre-DevonianStratigraphyoftheMiddleTzekiangValley,WHunan, PP. 63-74 Abstract: INTRODUCTIONApreliminaryinvestigationoftheearlyPalaeozoicstratigraphyofWHunanwasfirstcarriedoutbyWangandLiu[1]whomappedalargepartoftheAnhuadistrictin1936.Duringourtripinthesamedistrictand-itsneighbourhood,huntingforscheeliteintheMiddleTzekiangvalley,fromApriltoJune,1948,wehadanopportunitytostudythepre-Devonianstrataenrouteonmeanderingfromoneantimonyminetoanother.We,thus,encounteredtheunusualSinian"marinetillite"underdiscussionanddiscoveredthestratarichinSilurianfossils.PartofourtimewasdevotedtothestudyofstratigraphicsuccessionofthePanchiSerieswhichistheoldestformationexposed.
