Abstract:

Astaticsynchronouscompensator(STATCOM)basedonthree-phasecascadedvoltagesourceinverter(TC-VSI)isproposed.MaincircuitoftheproposedSTATCOMiscomposedbystandardTC-VSI,whichpossessesseparatecapacitorsatDCsideandcascadestosinglephasecouplingtransformerwhosecapacityis1/3ofSTATCOM’scapacity.TheadvantagesoftheSTATCOMareasfollowinglowswitchstress,smallerDCvoltagerippleandgoodoutputwaveform.Usingphaseshiftingpulse-widthmodulation(PS-PWM)technology,theswitchingfrequencyofinvertercanbereducedwhilethequalityofoutputvoltageremainsstationary,andthebasicfrequencybandofharmonicsinoutputvoltagecanberaisedtoaboutthreetimesoftheswitchingfrequency.TheresponsespeedofSTATCOMcanbeimprovedbyuseofd-cdecoupledcontroller.ConsideringthattheparametersofinvertersinSTATCOMmaybenon-uniform,thevoltagebalancingcontrolsareperformedattheDCsideofeachinverter.ThecorrectnessandeffectivenessoftheproposedSTATCOManditscontrolmethodareverifiedbysimulationexperiments.
