Microbiology of Tomato Fruits Produced with Wastewater from Swine

Abstract:

Aiming to evaluate the microbiological contamination of tomatoes fruits produced with wastewater from swine (WS), tomatoes of the variety Fanny TY had been cultivated in lysimeters of draining in a greenhouse and fertirrigated with different doses of WS with and without supplemental fertilization. The fruits were subjected to analysis of fecal and total coliforms and Salmonella spp. The results allowed concluding that the count of total coliforms was influenced by the proximity of the fruits in relation to the reservoir with WS and not by applied doses; The use of WS resulted in healthy fruit from the standpoint of sanitary.
