This article deals with the expansionist policy of Russia in Caucasus and military-diplomatic preparation of Peter the Great for the realization his plan towards Safavids state’s provinces near the Caspian Sea. The article researches the character of relations between Russia, Safavids state and Ottoman Empire, and analyses the character of conflicts arising between these states.
