THE SAASE CONCEPT OF BACTERIAL TECHNOLOGY FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT AND POLLUTED RIVERS

Bacterial technology has been widely used in most parts of the world but currently is considered one of the key most affordable and cheap technologies for use in fast growing industrialized countries such as China. The paper discusses that the bacterial technology can in the long term contribute significantly to sustainable management of wastewater and pollution problems in rivers and lakes. This was assessed looking at the Simplicity, Affordability, Adaptability, Scalability and Eco-friendly (SAASE) nature of the bacterial technology. The paper also found out that, the use of the bacterial technology can save authorities between 56-99.8% investment and operation costs incurred by the use of existing treatment systems like Wastewater Treatment Plants.
