C-Band Chirp Spread Spectrum (CSS) Signal Generation Using DDS-PLL TechniqueKeywords: Chirp Spread Spectrum , PLL Frequency synthesizer , DDS , VCO Abstract: The Chirp signals are an important class of spread spectrum signals that find significant role in radar applications. The use of Chirp signals results in high range and resolution. This paper delineates the design of low complexity C-band CSS transmitter. The carrier generation is based on DDS (Direct Digital Synthesizer) driven PLL frequency synthesizer technique. This scheme generates CSS directly in C-band and is much advantageous over the conventional techniques. Spurious free output, flexibility in waveform generation, faster switching time, improved noise characteristics, and low dc power consumption are the major characteristics of this method.
