: In this paper we write about the problems to restore the self that might affect men with a strong athletic identity when they suffer an injury that breaks down their life trajectory. In this case, we focus on the stories of four men heavily involved in rugby that suffered a spinal cord injury playing that game.Resumen: Este artículo gira en torno a los problemas que pueden tener algunos hombres con una fuerte identidad deportiva para restaurar su yo tras sufrir una lesión que rompe su trayectoria vital. En este caso, nos hemos apoyado en las historias de cuatro varones muy comprometidos con el rugby que sufrieron una lesión de médula espinal practicando dicho deporte.
