Transcranial magnetic stimulation: actual use in neuropsychiatryKeywords: Transcranial magnetic stimulation , Depression , Brain function. Abstract: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a noninvasive technique that uses electromagnetic fields to alter cerebral activity. Initially developed as a diagnostic tool to measure the connectivity and excitability of the nervous tissue and as a Brain mapping tool, thanks to its capacity to modulate cortical excitability, TMS appears to play an important role in the treatment of many neuropsychiatric conditions.
