This article tries to understand the readings of Euclides da Cunhas Os Sert es, which the members of the Centro Cultural Euclides da Cunha, in Ponta Grossa, in Southern Brazil, did along the 1940s and 50s. The analysis is centered on the different understandings of Brazilian nationality, regional identities, and gathering around the ideals of race, nation and literature in order to form an interpretative community which shared the representations about these themes. Este artigo busca compreender as leituras de Os Sert es, de Euclides da Cunha, feitas pelos membros do Centro Cultural Euclides da Cunha, de Ponta Grossa, ao longo das décadas de 1940 e 50. A análise foca-se sobre as diferentes formas de compreens o da nacionalidade brasileira, da identidade regional e da agrega o em torno de ideais intelectuais de ra a, na o e literatura para formar uma comunidade interpretativa que compartilhava as representa es em torno destes temas.
