THE SIMILARITIES BETWEEN B YN GER AND KOCOCA EPICS / B YN GER VE KOCOCA DESTANLARIKeywords: Hunting Culture , Epic of Biynoger , Epic of Kojocas Abstract: Hunting which had a powerful impact on the ancient Turkish social life simultaneously had a share in the cause of some religous beliefs. On the top of these beliefs about hunting is the protective spirits of the mountains, woods and animals. According to the ancient Turkish belief the fertility and the abundance of the hunt is under int the total protection of these spirits. These beliefs in the ancient Turkish culture effected the folk tales in the course of time and were reflected in the epics and tales. Karachay-Malkar “Biynoger” and Kyrgyz “Kojocas” epics are the most beautiful examples of this effect. In both of the epics the subject is a hunter who is cursed by the protector of the deers and his end is catastrophic. Both of the epicsare very similar in respects of content and typologic motives other than a couple of differences.
