Développement et conservation de la nature: l'apport des sciences humainesAbstract: Nature Conservation and Development: the Human Sciences Point of View. Since 1980, environmentalist strategies have involved local communities within protected areas management. However, sustainable development and the struggle against poverty's results are still mitigated. The problem seems to be rooted in the occidental model of development which is incompatible with local economical forms based on the reciprocity model. Another reason appears to come from the ignorance of the impact that space and resources restrictions have on local economy. Based on indigenous knowledge interpretation, the chosen field examples show how social and natural sciences would highly benefits from an improved collaboration.
