POISONING DUE TO DECAY GASES IN THE STRAINER PIT

The paper describes an accidental group poisoning by decay gases in the pit. Agroup of workers did some works on making a straining pit at the manure collectionlocation. Four workers went down the pit through a hole on the concrete block whenthey got immediately poisoned to death by decay gases especially hydrogen sulfide.In a sample of the air that was breathed in, by using the gas-fluid chromatographymethod and mass detector, it was found out that there was moderate presence ofammonia beside a high concentration of hydrogen sulfide.
