His delicate health —subject of various speculations—, his early and exemplary death and the good memory transmited to the posterity (rightful ruler, fervent Christian, austere administrator) have founded about the king a historical and literary myth. Las enfermedades y la muerte tienen una gran importancia para la invención de imágenes y estereotipos. El rey de Castilla Enrique III el doliente (1390- 1406) fija todo un paradigma. Su delicada salud —objeto de distintas especulaciones—, su temprana y ejemplar muerte y la buena memoria transmitida a la posteridad (gobernante justo, fervoroso cristiano, austero administrador) han creado en tomo al monarca todo un mito histórico y literario.
