|
Abstract:
Main Characteristics of economic structure and dilemma confronted with economic development in the Changdu District, Tibet Autonomous Region are discussed in this paper. It is argued that the lag economic structure is the key factor that restricts the economic development within this region. Being in the pre industrialization stage, its economic development relies mainly on the primary industry, while the secondary and tertiary industries have not been well developed. After assessing the resources and locational advantages for tourist development, it is suggested that tourist industry should be developed as the strategic industry that will contribute a lot to the economic structure transformation of Changdu District. Furthermore, the framework for tourist development in terms of its spatial arrangement and infrastructure and center tourist city construction are presented.
