STRENGTHENING STUDIES ON CHINA''S RESOURCES STRATEGY FOR 21ST CENTURY
大力加强我国面向21世纪的全球资源战略研究

Resources problem is one of the major issues in today's world.Since opening to the outside world,China's economy has developed very fast.With economic development,resources consumption has constantly gone up in China.In order to maintain momentum for economic development,China needs to use more and more resources abroad.It is of great significance to the intensifying studies on global resources strategy for 21st century in China.In this connection,three aspects are worthy to be noted:1) It is beneficial to solve resoruces shortage issue in a broader way.Traditionally,China's resources supply and demand are mainly dependent upon domestic resources.This study will provide a wider way to deal with resources shortage issue.2) It is beneficial for China to improve resources consumption structure.Coal is the major energy in China but it causes serious environmental pollution. This study will also provide alternatives for China to improve its energy consumption structure.3) It is beneficial for China to meet the challenges of globalization.In today's world, the globalization of economic development and resources supply are the inevitable trend.China's resources strategic studies for the next century have the following contents:1) forecasting supply and demand of world major resources;2) studying resources strategies and different development stages of typical countries;3) forecasting supply and demand of China's major resources for the next century;and 4)how to utilize China's advantage resources,how to deal with China's disadvantage resources and how to reserve strategic resources for emergency.
