Study and application of time-lapse seismic monitoring for the thermal recovery of heavy oil reservoir
|
Abstract:
There are rich heavy oil resources in China, but it is very few for the study on time-lapse seismic monitoring for the thermal recovery of heavy oil in a thin inter-bed reservoir at home and abroad.By analyzing the effect of fire flooding on heavy oil reservoir and using laboratorial result,a thin inter-bed model is built and used for seismic forward modeling of fire flooding reservoir. And a field example is shown. Both of them show that thermal recovery(steam flooding, fire flooding or hot-water flooding) can cause the obvious changes of elastic properties of reservoir rock and pore fluid and the obvious seismic attribute difference.Time-lapse seismic can be used to map the high temperature extent in reservoir,to track the high temperature front and so forth. It is feasible for us to apply time-lapse seismic to the monitoring of thermal recovery of heavy oil reservoir.
