STATIC AND DYNAMIC FE DESIGN OF CRADLE AND TOP CARRIAGE FOR A VEHICLE-MOUNTED HOWITZER

Abstract:
The static and dynamic design of the cradle and top carriage for the vehicle-mounted howitzer using finite element method is discussed.Loads on the cradle and top carriage as a whole are analyzed,and a choice of element types is made.Through static stiffness and strength analysis,the maximum displacement and stress under static loads are obtained.Through dynamic response analysis,dynamic characteristics are obtained. Further,bottlenecks and other problems in the design of the original scheme are found.Then,the step by step until the design requirement is satisfied.This method can be applied to structural design is revised dynamic design of other components of the gun.
