USING TRANSLATIONAL SPRING-MASSES TO IMPOSE AN ARBITRARY FIXED NODE ALONG A BEAM
|
Abstract:
A simple and effective method to impose an arbitrary fixed node along a beam is developed by using two properly attached translational spring-masses.The governing equation of the combined system is derived by using the assumed mode method. With the conditions of zero displacements and zero slopes simultaneously, the constraint equations are obtained and the parameters of the oscillators can be determined.Numerical examples are given to validate the proposed method.
