TRADE-OFF OPTIMIZATION FOR THE GEOMETRIC PARAMETERS IN SPIRAL GROOVED GAS SEALS

Abstract:
The operating stability and reliability of spiral grooved gas seals are closely related to geometric parameters,so it is important to optimize these parameters.Using PH linearization and iterative method,a nonlinear Reynolds equation for a steady-state flow field is solved,and the approximate expressions for gas dynamic pressure and velocity in the spiral groove are obtained.And then using multi-objective optimization method,a trade-off function of rigidity-to-spillage ratio is derived and the optimized geometric parameters are obtained by solving the objective function.
