Routing and rate selection in UWB-based WPANs
|
Abstract:
Ultra wideband(UWB) is a promising wireless communication technology for wireless personal area networks(WPAN).In multi-hop and multi-rate UWB-based WPANs, traditional selection of routes and arbitrary assignment of rate on these routes result in unnecessarily long channel occupation time, then lead to low thoughtput. To solve this problem, this paper proposed a novel UWB routing and rate assignment(URRA) by exploiting the dependence between the channel occupation time and the multi-rate capability of an UWB system. At the same time, this paper showed that satisfying a data packet delive-ry over the selected route and rate led to a NP-hard problem. So URRA resorted to approximate solutions to find a near-optimal result with reasonable computational and communication overhead. The simulation shows that the network thoughtput are increased comparing with traditional min-hop routing algorithm after using the new URRA scheme.
