MAC protocol optimization algorithm of wireless Ad hoc networks

Based on the analysis of the minimum contention window of IEEE802.11 DCF, this paper introduced a formula of adjusting the minimum contention window, and proposed a simple but accurate algorithm, S-DCF, to estimate the number of competing terminals. Applying these improvements to Ad hoc networks, the simulation results show that this algorithm is accurate and effective. The system throughput, delay, and bit-drop-rate are all improved significantly.
