Abstract:

The interfacial microstructure of SiC fibre reinforced Ti-22AI-23Nb-2Ta alloy com- posite,which was prepared by hot pressing of magnetron sputtering coating precursor wire,was inves- tigated by analytical electron microscopy(AEM).A new interracial structure,consisting of fine grain TiC+TiSi,equiaxed TiC and(Al,Ti)Nb_2 phase layer,was found at the fibre/alloy interface of the composite.A formation mechanism of the interface is proposed as follows:the reaction of Ti with C-coating formed TiC,as a result,Nb rich zone appeared in Ti-depletion layer beneath TiC layer and formed(Al,Ti)Nb_2 phase.
