SULFUR DISTRIBUTION AND FRACTIONATION IN YELLOW SOILS FROM CHONGQING AREA
|
Abstract:
The distribution and the fractionation of sulfur in yellow soils under forests in Chongqing area were studied. The total contents of sulfur were found in a range of 36.00 to 259.25 mg/kg with a mean value of 155.10 mg/kg. There is more sulfur in subsoil than that in surface soil. The average contents of carbon-bound sulfur and ester sulfate sulfur are 43.00 (21.50-82.50) mg/kg and 49.67(12.08-115.38) mg/kg respectively and their contents in surface soils are higher than that in subsoils. The contents of NaH2PO4-S and OAc-S increase as the depth increases and fall into ranges of 27.95 to 105.17 and 23.79 to 86.64 mg/kg respectively. The high concentration of NaH2PO4-S may be caused by acid precipitation. The sulfur content in soils from diffrent regions of the area rank as follows; Jinyun mountain > Shandine > Nanshan.
