Treatment of landfill leachate by an enhanced coagulation and photoelectro-oxidation process
|
Abstract:
Treatment of landfill leachate by FeMn oxide combined PACl coagulation followed by photoelectro-oxidation process was studied in this paper. Performance of the combined process for the removal of chemical oxygen demand (COD), total organic carbon (TOC), ammonia, and color were evaluated. FeMn oxide with certain dosage exhibited high removal efficiency when dosing PACl. When dosing 600 mg.L-1 FeMn oxide and 100 mg.L-1 PACl, the removal efficiency of COD with initial concentration of 1400 mg.L-1 was 32%. Photoelectro-oxidation process can further increase the removal efficiency of COD and TOC. When the current density was 400 A.m-2, the removal efficiency of COD and TOC was 76.8% and 81.2%, respectively; the removal efficiency of color and ammonia was higher than 99%.
