VAPOR PRESSURE DETERMINATION OF PROMETON AND CARBOFURAN

Abstract:
Vapor pressures of prometon and carbofuran at 15,25, 35 and 45°C were calculated based on vapor densities of the two compounds determined with gas-saturation method. Within the above temperature range, the vapor pressures of prometon and carbofuran are related to the reciprocal temperature by the equations: log Vp=15.79-6260.7/T and log Vp=15.82-6501.3/T respectively. The heats of vaporization calculated from the slopes of the above equations according to Clausius-Clapeyron equation are 28.65 kcal/mole for prometon and 29.75 kcal/mole for carbofuran, respectively. The procedures for the determination of vapor density and the calculation of vapor pressure and the heat of vaporization were also discussed.
