A STUDY ON THE MODEL OF PARTICULATE MATTER POLLUTION OVER BEIJING AREA

In this paper, the ADTL model was modified for source height, particle diameter and wind velocity to calculate the diffusion of soot from chimney. An empirical relation between observed data of raising dusts and wind velocity was adopted to estimate the contributions of surface raising dusts. Based on data analysis, a suggestion in the existance of an unnegligible background dusts near large cities was put forward to develop a new approach for the calculation of total dust concentrations. The results showed a fairly good agreement between calculated and observed daily- and monthly-averaged dust concentrations.
