A normal-phase HPLC with fiuorimetric detector has been developed for selenium determination at pg level. For a sample volume of 20 ml, the working range of the technique is 0-0.5 ppb, and the detection i-mit is 500 fg. The procedure can be applied to selenium speciation of environmental samples with concentrations of 0.001 ppb for Se(IV) and 0.005 ppb for Se(V or total selenium.
