Primary assessment of environmental quality of soils in Chengdou Area
|
Abstract:
This paper adopted the Nemerow Synthetical Pollution Index Method to assess the heavy metal pollution of soils in Chengdou area based on the National Environmental Quality Standard for Soils, and categorized the soils from the whole area into safe domain and 4 pollution domains. The heavy metal pollutants of Chengdu City are mainly Hg, Cd and Pb, Cd, Ni, Cr, Cu and Zn for the eastern slope of Qionglaishan and Longmenshan mountainous area, Ni, Hg and Cd for Pengzhou-Qinbaijiang domain. Dujiangyan, Pujiang County and Longquanyi are the domains with high soil quality, in which soils contained moderate levels of beneficial elements such as Se, Mo, B, Mn and Fe, and N, P and K, are determined. Hg concentrations in vegetables and human hairs of the pollution domains are generally higher than those of the safety domain reflecting different ecological effects.
