ELECTROCHEMICAL BEHAVIOR OF TYPE 304STAINLESS STEEL UNDER ALTERNATING ELECTRIC FIELD
|
Abstract:
The transient response of 304 stainless steel electrode under potential step was analyzed.Atomic force microscopy (AFM),a powerful high-resolution imaging technique for determining the structure of surface, was used to examine the growth of the passive film formed on 304 stainless steel in dilute sulfuric acid solution by using alternating voltage (A.V.) passivation. The depth composition profile of the passive film was determined by means of XPS analysis. The experimental results showed that the mechanism of passive film growth under A.V.passivation was different from that under D.C.passivation.
