CORROSION PROTECTION OF MILD STEEL BY SOL -GEL ZIRCONIA COATINGS
溶胶—凝胶法制备的ZrO2涂层对低碳钢腐蚀的保护

Zirconia coatings were deposited on mild steel by sol -gel method. The temperature de- pendence on phase structure and morphology of coatings were investigated by X -ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) .The electrochemical corrosion of mild steel was eval- uated through potentiodynamic polarization curves without and with zirconia coatings. The results show that the coatings heat -treated at 800 and 40093 for Ih have good corrosion resistance, and increase the life time of the mild steel by a factor of 6.3 and 2.4, respectively. In contrast, the coating obtained at 600C have no positive effect on the corrosion resistance of the substrate. KEY
