A Case Study of Numerical Experiments of the Western Pacific Subtropical High
|
Abstract:
As far as one case is concerned, during which the subtropical high over the western Pacific(SH) moved to northwest and Meiyu at the Yangtze River valley ended up, the causes of enhance of SHare studied by means of numerical experiments; especially the roles of diabatic processes such as radiation, precipitation and heating over South--Asia monsoon area are analyzed. The results indicate: (1 ) forthe circulation pattern in which Meiyu will end, adiabatic dynamic adjusting processes tends to enhanceSH and are the main cuase of SH moved to northwest, (2) diabatic heating plays unignoredly roles inenhancing the subtropical high on medium--range scales of 3~ 5 days, and the net effect of diabaticheating lessens SH. As for the factors of diabatic heating, total effect of radiation processes lessens thesubtropical high, the latent heating released by precipitation benefits on the maintenance and enhanceof the subtropical high. As for the location, the heating over South--Asia monsoon area plays the samerole as that in the ITCZ to south of the subtropical high, and is in favor of the enhancement ofsubtropical high and northwest movement
