Abstract:
The last thirty years have witnessed major improvement in the outcomes of treatment for cancer. Biotechnology has contributed greatly to antitumor immune therapy. Bioengineered scFv immunoconjugates have become the new focus of antitumor immune therapy, and great progress has been made in the research of the application of scFv immunoconjugates. Studies showed that bioengineered scFv immunoconjugates displayed specific binding to tumor-related targets and exhibit selective cytotoxicity to target cancer cells. They show highly therapeutic effects in animal experiments. Because scFv is highly specific to tumor-related molecular target, there is a great potential to develop highly effective antitumor agents. They will play an important role in cancer therapy and application. These advances and a perspective on potential future directions in this field were reviewed.
