Ceramics matrix composites thixoforming in pseudo-semi-solid state and the preliminary experimental study

Abstract:
The pseudo-semi-solid thixoforming was proposed and the main technical process was explained by satellite angle frames experiment with 2024 Al alloy and SiCp. The ceramics matrix composites can be formed by pseudo-semi-solid thixoforming and the forming temperature was much lower than the melting temperature of the high-melting phase-nano-powder. The samples formed by pseudo-semi-solid thixoforming have homogeneous and compact microstructure, certain plastic deformation and higher hardness. The solidifying defects after filling can be easily erased by the pressure during the forming.
