New-model double-interpenetrating SiC/390Al composite
|
Abstract:
The new-model double-interpenetrating SiC/390Al composites reinforced by hollow and porous foam ceramic were fabricated by the squeeze casting method, and the effect of the structures of struts of SiC foam reinforcement on the Sic/390Al composites was investigated. The effect of interface of composites on their mechanical properties was studied. The results show that the structures of struts of SiC foam reinforcement have an important role within the composites. The double-interpenetrating Sic/390Al composite reinforced by the SiC hollow and porous foam ceramic has unique interpenetrating interface, so the composite has the perfect interface bond. Therefore, not only the yield strength, the compressive strength of the double-interpenetrating Sic/390Al composite, but also the toughness and the flexural strength increase much well as the composite has good interface bond, and the struts of SiC foam reinforcement are roughed.
