A method is proposed to mean-modify finite element basis functions. In manydspects the meanmodified functions behave much like the unmodified ones,but are muchsmoother,and the non-conformity between elements are completely eliminiated.Also diss-cussed are the change induced in the processes of element forming and assembling.
