AN APPRAISAL OF SOCIAL INFLUENCE ON THE COLLECTIVE FOREST AREA AFFECTED BY A NATURAL FOREST PROTECTION PROJECT

The "Natural forest resource protection" and "Return farmland to forestry" projects are two ecological projects launched by Chinese government to greatly adjust the production scale of both afforestation and the forest industry within the whole land area of China. Implementation of these two projects will not only increase forest resources and improve the environment but also influence land use patterns, industry structure and the employment structure, which covers a variety of departments and fields. It will dramatically affect local financial revenue, farmers' incomes, employment,public facilities construction, social welfare and the equitable distribution of public wealth. This influence varies with the degree of implementation of the expected policies.
