|
Abstract:
Yan Cheng was a scholar in Hangzhou in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty who became well known in Korea for his friendship with his contemporary Korean counterpart Hong Darong but was little known in China. The author has recently found in Korea a hand copy of Yan's book The Complete Works of Tieqiaoa, which includes all of Yan's writings. In the letter collection of the book is a large amount of correspondence between Yan and Honghis and letters written by Yan's brother Yan Guo and his friend Zhu Wenzao. This book gives valuable information on Sino\|Korean cultural exchanges and the local cultural history of Zhejiang.
