On Donglin Scholars' Disabuse of Wang Yangming's Teachings
|
Abstract:
Wang Yangming's teachings were intermixed with Buddhism in the late Ming Period. Donglin Scholars tried to disabuse it. In form their work seemed to be returning to Zhuxi's teaching, but in substance their thoughts exceeded the framework of Confucianism in the Song-Ming Period. Dongklin scholars didn't further develop their thoughts. Their work only changed the direction of the late Ming academic thinking.
