SURFACE WAVES IN RIDGE OR CANYON HALF SPACE OF INHOMOGENEOUS MEDIA

Abstract:
The problems of dispersion of Love and Rayleigh surface waves in ridge or canyon half space of inhomogeneous medium with varying elastic constants along with depth are studied by means of curvilinear coordinate method. The topography is described in curvilinear coordinate system, and the solutions of wave motion in the half space which satisfy the boundary conditions on the surface are given. The dispersions of Love waves and Rayleigh waves are found to vary with the local topography as well as the frequency. Finally, the dispersive curves of Love waves and Rayleigh waves in ridge or canyon half space are calculated.
