A STUDY ON THE NUMERICAL MODEL OF DDA AND ITS PRELIMINARY APPLICATION TO ROCK ENGINEERING
|
Abstract:
Based on DDA code compiled initially, the deformation analyses for tunneling of an experimental adit and opening excavation of a high rock slope are carried out in order to show its possible application to rock engineering. Their results are compared with those obtained by FEM. It is shown that the calculation results by DDA, in 2 cases, are in good accordance with FEM both in displacement state and in deformation quantity grade. The displacements in tunneling case are also comparable to those measured in field. All the analyses indicate an actual deformation tendancy of rock excavations by DDA model. Some problems involved in simulations of underground tunneling and opening excavation by DDA model are discussed, which include the way to apply proper relief loads to simulate rock excavation process, simulations of mechanical properties between boundaries of blocks and contacts and criteria for interpenetrations of block system.
