The application of Histo-variogram method in spatial matching of satellite data validation

A new method for spatialmatching ofdatawithdifferentresolutionwasproposed by introducing the conceptof standing and contourpixels in histo-variogram theory, andwas examined in quality validation using the sea surface temperature data obtained byFY2-C satellite. Forcomparing satellitedatawith grid data, thismethod can reduce the spurious errorresulting from changed pixel characteristics in downscaling and upscaling. For comparing satellite datawith station data, thismethod can give relatively accurate resultswhile requiring less precise spatialmatching.
