Percolation Model for Polymer Flooding
|
Abstract:
In this paper we show that the conventional treatment of polymer velocity enhancement in two phase flow to ill posed model equation when capillary dispersion is not present. A constant enhancement factor results in the accumulation of polymer near the polymer oil shock, irrespective of any lagging effect. We have established a percolation model for the IPV(inaccessible pore volume) velocity enhancement effect. In this model the velocity enhancement factor is a function of the water saturation, which results in hyperbolic system and does not have the elliptic regions and stability problem inherent in models with a constant enhancement factor.
