INHIBITION OF PLANT PATHOGENIC FUNGI BY A LECTINLIKE PROTEIN FROM GASTRODIA ELATA BL
|
Abstract:
A 10 kD lectin-like protein with antifungal activity named GAFP-1 was isolated and purified from theterminal corm of Gastrodia elata BL F. flavida S. Chow. It can inhibit the hyphal growth of nine pathogenicfungi in vitro including Trichoderma viride, Valsa ambiens, Rhizoctonia salani Kuhn,Gibberella zeae F-34, F-11,JF--10, H-28, Botrytis cinerea Persoon and Ganoderma lucidum.Further study shows such inhibition can occur onboth spore germination and hyphal elongation of the T.Viride.The abnormal morphology such as hyphaetwisting and cytoplasm condensation of T. viride and V. Ambiens caused by GAFP--1 was also observed.
