EFFECTS OF STRICT ANAEROBIC CONDITIONS, REDUCINGAGENTS, AND AERATION ON GROWTH OF ZYMOMONASMOBILIS
|
Abstract:
This research investigated the effects of anaerobic conditions, reducingagents and aeration on Zymomonas mobilis ATCC 29192 and ATCC 35000. In stirred batchcultures with a 2% glucose, 1% peptone, and 1% yeast extract medium sparged withnitrogen, 29192 and 35000 had greatest growth rates of 0.309/h and 0.472/h, respectively.29192 was more sensitive towards the reducing agents and oxygen than 35000. The strongerthe reducing power, the more inhibitory the agent was. These agents tested caused varyingdegrees of toxicity. Higher levels of agents were always more toxic.
