An Effective Test Method for Characterization of Impact Damage and Gaining the Compression Properties after Impact of Composite Laminates

Abstract:
A test method with much smaller specimens was employed to study the compressive behavior of composite laminates after low velocity impact. T300/modified-epoxy was selected for this purpose. The experimental results were in good agreement with that presented in references. This method is suitable for use in characterization of post-impact residual compressive strength of composite materials. The cost and time period of testing could be greatly reduced by using this method.
